TIPPECANOE VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL
REVEALS NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Akron, IN – At the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation’s Regular Board Meeting on Monday, April 16, 2018, the board approved the hiring of Gina Hierlmeier as the TVHS Athletic Director. Ms. Hierlmeier will replace long-time administrator, coach and educator Duane Burkhart who announced his retirement effective the end of the school year.

Ms. Hierlmeier’s education included receiving a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education at IPFW in Fort Wayne, Masters of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion and a Masters of Educational Leadership at Western Governors University. Ms. Hierlmeier’s professional teaching experience took place at Wabash Middle School, West Central High School, Culver High/Middle School, Marian High School (Mishawaka), with her current position at John Glenn High School. While at John Glenn, Ms. Hierlmeier gained administrative and educational leadership experience.

Ms. Hierlmeier stated, “I am thrilled to join the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation and athletic community. I am looking forward to working closely with our administration, coaches, and student athletes to continue the solid tradition of Viking athletics.”

Ms. Hierlmeier also received the following awards during her teaching and coaching career: Western Governors University Task 6 Educational Leadership Practicum Excellence Award, three (3) Coach of the Year honors for Varsity Basketball and Volleyball, five (5) Sectional Championships for Varsity Basketball and Volleyball, and four (4) Conference Championships for Varsity Basketball.

According to Tippecanoe Valley High School Principal Chad Cripe, “Gina has a proven track record in the classroom as an excellent teacher and on the hardwood as a player and coach. Gina’s qualifications, personality and commitment to excellence made her rise above the other candidates from an extremely competitive and qualified pool of applicants.
I look forward to working with Gina and am confident that she will do a terrific job in leading the athletic department at Tippecanoe Valley High School.”
