Tippecanoe Valley Schools will host Kindergarten Registration on Monday, March 23rd.  Listed below are the details for each school.

Kindergarten Registration at Akron Elementary School – Akron Elementary School will hold kindergarten registration for the 2015-2016 school year on Monday, March 23, 2015, at 6:30 p.m., in the cafeteria. Students attending kindergarten during the 2015-2016 school year must be five years old on or before August 1, 2015. A birth certificate, shot records and a valid email are required when the child is registered. Child Care will be provided for parents with young children. Early registration for kindergarten students is critical in planning for next year’s kindergarten program. If you have a child to be enrolled but are unable to attend registration, please contact the Akron Elementary School office at 893-4646 prior to March 23.

Mentone Elementary Kindergarten Registration – Mentone Elementary will host Kindergarten Round Up on March 23, 2015 at 6 PM. Families will start the evening with a pizza meal served in the cafeteria. After the dinner, parents will attend a meeting about the requirements for children attending Kindergarten during the 2015-16 school year. Children that are 5 years old on or before August 1, 2015 are eligible to attend kindergarten. Parents will learn about kindergarten readiness and receive a kindergarten packet filled with information and paperwork that needs to be turned in before their student begins Kindergarten. Parents will also be able to use our online registration process to pre-register their student. This early registration is critical in the planning for next year’s kindergarten program. Childcare will be provided for this meeting. If you cannot attend please contact Mentone Elementary School prior to registration in August. If you know a parent that will have a new kindergartener at Mentone Elementary next year, please pass along this information.

TIPPECANOE VALLEY ONLINE AUCTION

TO CONCLUDE SUNDAY EVENING, MARCH 8TH

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation’s timed online auction of general surplus items for sale to the public is currently underway.  The online auction will begin closing on Sunday March 8, at 8:00 p.m.  Until then, interested individuals may bid on three tractors, a former Tippecanoe Valley High School football scoreboard and two basketball scoreboards, a drill press, band saw, planer, desktop PCs, laptop computers, printers, televisions, overhead projectors, electronics, a Pitco triple unit fryer, and much more.

TVHS Girls Basketball Capture Semi-State Crown

Girls off to state

The Tippecanoe Valley HS Girls basketball team is headed to Indianapolis for their first ever appearance in the state finals on Saturday, March 7, after capturing the Class 3A Semi-State title with a 60-45 win over the Rochester Zebras.  The Lady Vikings play in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 6:00pm against Princeton.

TVSC to Sell Surplus Items Via Online Auction

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation will offer a variety of general surplus items for sale to the public via an online timed auction.  Interested individuals may bid on three tractors, a football scoreboard, two basketball scoreboards, a drill press, band saw, planer, desktop PCs, laptop computers, printers, televisions, overhead projectors, electronics, a Pitco triple unit fryer, and much more.

Remaining Make-Up Day Scheduled

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation announces its plan for making up the remaining instructional days lost this year due to inclement weather:

  • Students will attend school on Friday, March 20, previously listed on the master calendar as a parent-teacher conference day and a non-school day for students. Opportunities for parent-teacher conferences will be provided. Information will be distributed specific to the school your child attends.
  • Students will attend school on Thursday and Friday, May 28 and 29.
  • Students will attend school on Monday and Tuesday, June 1 and 2.
  • Any additional cancellation days will be made up on June 3, 4, and 5.

Questions pertaining to Tippecanoe Valley’s make up days may be directed to the building principal of the school your child attends.

 

Jeff Yalden Presentation Moved to Tuesday Night

Jeff Yalden’s evening presentation to parents and the community at Tippecanoe Valley High School on Monday, February 16, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m.  The change in dates is necessary because of the participation of the Tippecanoe Valley High School Lady Vikings Basketball Team in the championship game of the Wawasee sectional Monday evening. Tuesday night’s home boys’ basketball game with Bremen will be rescheduled.
 
The public is invited to Tuesday evening’s presentation to hear Jeff Yalden address the topic of ‘Youth Suicide Prevention”, starting at 7:00 p.m., in the Tippecanoe Valley High School Gym.

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation (TVSC) invites parents/guardians and the community to attend a presentation by Jeff Yalden on the topic of “Youth Suicide Prevention” on Monday, February 16, at 7:00 p.m., in the Tippecanoe Valley High School (TVHS) Commons.

Jeff Yalden is a high energy, “tell it like it is” motivational speaker and parent communicator. He will provide a dynamic and entertaining message about teen depression and suicide that parents/guardians and the community need to hear.

Due to the nature of the topic, the presentation is intended for adults only.  Childcare will be provided by members of the TVHS Student Council.  Snacks will also be provided.

The anticipated length of the presentation is one and one-half to two hours.

SNR – TVSC Awarded “One School at a Time” Grant by Martin’s Super Market

Tippecanoe Valley High School (TVHS) was recently presented a check for $1,000 from Martin’s Super Markets as a recipient of a “One School at a Time” grant.  The grant will be used to cover costs associated with bringing youth suicide prevention speaker, Jeff Yalden, to Tippecanoe Valley for two days of presentations and training involving students, staff, parents, and the community.

Presented in cooperation with NewsCenter 16 (WNDU-TV), a story on why the grant was awarded to Tippecanoe Valley will be aired on Friday, February 6, during NewsCenter 16’s morning show and the evening news.

Pictured presenting the check is Shaun Morrow, manager of the Martin’s Super Market in Warsaw.  The check is being presented to, left to right:  Micah Bradley (TVHS senior); Sarah Jones (TVHS senior); Susanne Siebrase (Tippecanoe Valley Middle School counselor); Stephanie Anglin (TVHS counselor), Mike Bendicsen (TVHS principal), and Brett Boggs (Tippecanoe Valley superintendent).  These individuals are also members of the Tippecanoe Valley Community Mental Health Task Force.

TIPPECANOE VALLEY TO HOST YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION SPEAKER, JEFF YALDEN

 

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation (TVSC) will host youth suicide prevention speaker, Jeff Yalden, on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17, 2015.  Jeff Yalden is a high energy, “tell it like it is” youth motivational speaker and parent communicator. He will provide dynamic and entertaining assemblies for students at Tippecanoe Valley High School and Tippecanoe Valley Middle School with a message about teen depression and suicide that students, staff, parents, and the community need to hear.  He will also conduct “QPR for Suicide Prevention” training for students and staff.  A special presentation for parents and the community will be held the evening of Monday, February 16, at Tippecanoe Valley High School.

 

Grant funding has been obtained to cover a portion of the costs associated with bringing Jeff Yalden to Tippecanoe Valley.  Additional funding is needed.  Anyone that would like to contribute is encouraged to do so.  Contributions will be accepted at the TVSC Administration Office, 8343 South State Road 19, Akron, IN 46910.  Questions may be directed to Superintendent Brett R.
