Interested individuals may bid on a variety of outdoor play equipment (Head Start play equipment not included), outdoor basketball goals, and a multi-station fitness course, all located on the current play area where new construction will take place.  Also to be auctioned are items from the 1967 wing (3 classrooms and a small Speech room) – classroom doors, steel shelving, counter/sink/storage units (3), a larger counter and sink with overhead storage, and white dry erase boards.  Items to be sold from the two northern-most classrooms in the 1949 wing include classroom doors, wood storage closets (1 room), steel lockers (1 room), black chalkboards, and steel shelving.

Miscellaneous items to be sold via online auction include several horizontal milk coolers, assorted student desks and chairs, a drill press, a band saw/cutoff saw, an industrial sweeper, and an abandoned boiler.

M.A.T.H. Bowl

The Math Teams from Akron and Mentone Elementary Schools performed extremely well in the recent M.A.T.H. Bowl Competition. Akron’s Math Team tied for first in the state in their division of 127 schools. Because of the tie breaker, Akron was awarded second place. Mentone’s Math Team placed sixth in the state in the same division.

Again, there were 127 schools in our division from throughout the state that competed in the M.A.T.H. Bowl. To have our two elementary schools both place in the top 10 is simply outstanding!!!

Congratulations to the Akron and Mentone Elementary School Math Team members and coaches. Well done! We are so very proud of you!
