SNR – TVSC Awarded “One School at a Time” Grant by Martin’s Super Market

Tippecanoe Valley High School (TVHS) was recently presented a check for $1,000 from Martin’s Super Markets as a recipient of a “One School at a Time” grant.  The grant will be used to cover costs associated with bringing youth suicide prevention speaker, Jeff Yalden, to Tippecanoe Valley for two days of presentations and training involving students, staff, parents, and the community.

Presented in cooperation with NewsCenter 16 (WNDU-TV), a story on why the grant was awarded to Tippecanoe Valley will be aired on Friday, February 6, during NewsCenter 16’s morning show and the evening news.

Pictured presenting the check is Shaun Morrow, manager of the Martin’s Super Market in Warsaw.  The check is being presented to, left to right:  Micah Bradley (TVHS senior); Sarah Jones (TVHS senior); Susanne Siebrase (Tippecanoe Valley Middle School counselor); Stephanie Anglin (TVHS counselor), Mike Bendicsen (TVHS principal), and Brett Boggs (Tippecanoe Valley superintendent).  These individuals are also members of the Tippecanoe Valley Community Mental Health Task Force.

TIPPECANOE VALLEY TO HOST YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION SPEAKER, JEFF YALDEN

 

The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation (TVSC) will host youth suicide prevention speaker, Jeff Yalden, on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17, 2015.  Jeff Yalden is a high energy, “tell it like it is” youth motivational speaker and parent communicator. He will provide dynamic and entertaining assemblies for students at Tippecanoe Valley High School and Tippecanoe Valley Middle School with a message about teen depression and suicide that students, staff, parents, and the community need to hear.  He will also conduct “QPR for Suicide Prevention” training for students and staff.  A special presentation for parents and the community will be held the evening of Monday, February 16, at Tippecanoe Valley High School.

 

Grant funding has been obtained to cover a portion of the costs associated with bringing Jeff Yalden to Tippecanoe Valley.  Additional funding is needed.  Anyone that would like to contribute is encouraged to do so.  Contributions will be accepted at the TVSC Administration Office, 8343 South State Road 19, Akron, IN 46910.  Questions may be directed to Superintendent Brett R.
